New Abstract Artwork: Astral Terrain - Image

Well, it's been a while since I last posted and lots have happened. Haven't really had the chance to tinker with Blender until recently.

However, I was experimenting with an abstract texture effect and stumbled onto this.

Done with Blender and Photoshop:

Wasn't really liking my current Blender Illusionist icon for social media, so I decided to change it to something else. Still a work-in-progress, but I think I'm happy for now! ;-)

New Tutorial! How to create an ink drop effect Part: I

Just released Part one of my tutorials on creating an Ink Drop effect using blender. I noticed I was getting a lot of views for the video (here), so I decided to show how to create the effect.

New Example .blend File Available

Hey - I've just posted a new free example .blend file for the "Ink Drop" Effect that I made here. Some people were asking to see how I created such a smooth emitter effect and hopefully the .blend file shows some of my techniques. I posted it in the Free Stuff Section.

If you're interested in seeing a more in-depth example of the effect, I'd be happy to post a video tutorial!

Cosmos VFX Clips - FREE Giveaway Video!

And as promised, here's the video, explaining about the free download what you get, and what you can do with the clips! Keep in mind, there are 11 image sequences, each 144 frames long, so the whole file is just over 1 GB in filesize.

I didn't mention how the nodes are composited together in blender, but hopefully the example .blend files shows that. However, if it's still not clear, feel free to ask me in a comment for more clarification!
